Devo Week 21

Journey through the Wilderness -- Faith in Action

God's Son was displaced from heaven in order for the Good News of the Kingdom to come to earth. Jesus' birth marked a new era, releasing the full presence of God to dwell among all nations. Often displacement activates great faith and divine breakthroughs.

Key Concept: Displacement and Preparation

Displacement often shifts our faith into gear, so to speak. Like a spiritual muscle, our faith is exercised and engaged during challenging circumstances and seasons. Wilderness times often produce greater strength, growth, maturity and purification. John the Baptist understood this when he said, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)

A dramatic change in circumstances may shift us into a place in uncertainty and unfamiliarity. When displacement happens, your faith will be tested. I exhort you to turn to God. You can trust Him for protection, provision and guidance. As your faith is exercised you will find new spiritual strength.

Jesus returned from His time of testing in the wilderness in the power of the Spirit to begin His ministry. Be encouraged! God is the Lord of the wilderness, too! “Let God arise and his enemies be scattered!” (Psalm 68:1)

Key Word Definition: Displacement (noun)

--the moving of something from its place or position.

Excerpt from Devotional 21 with highlighted word:

"The wilderness was never meant to be our home. But, like the Jews, divine detours on our way to the 'promised land' teach us dependence upon God. During times of displacement, we either turn to God or from Him."

Scripture: John 1:14

"And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth."
